Unearth the World’s New Year’s Resolutions
1. Expand our reach: Since 2014, Unearth the World has worked with over 200 volunteers who have dedicated over 4,000 hours of their time. While this is pretty awesome, we don’t want to stop here. 2018 will be a year of continuing to work with individuals but expanding our reach to work with more universities and companies. Keene State and Cornell have already traveled with us this year – will your school be next? And Centro and Boston Scientific are supporting global volunteer programs for their employees in 2018 – is this something your company could use?! Reach out to learn more.
2. Focus on post-trip support: As many of you know, Unearth the World has always implemented a robust pre and post-trip training curriculum to help our travelers not only prepare for their program but also use their experience as a catalyst for future change. In 2017, we began planning local volunteer opportunities to help participants bridge their international experience into their daily lives. This post-trip support will continue to be a priority and we have already added a new (and AMAZING) local Chicago partner so people can volunteer in their own community (more details to come…).
3. Share stories: We are proud of the work being done by both our international partners and volunteers. On our post-trip calls with each traveler, we are so lucky to hear stories about their transformative and humbling experiences. Yet, being such a young and growing organization, we have not done a great job of sharing these stories with you – our engaged community. This year, we will do our best to loop you in on all of the action and impact happening around the globe. To start out on the right foot, check out Mariam’s Nicaragua blog HERE and below. We would also like to share a short video from founder, Kathryn Pisco. Click below to hear why Kathryn is so passionate about cross-cultural exchange and global volunteering.
